What is our point of difference.
Our work is lead by a team of highly experienced Māori arts practitioners.
The foundation of all projects centre around our papakainga Tokaanu in the central north island where inspiration for the company was born. The embodiment and reimagining of tuupuna korero relating to whenua, whakapapa and contemporary society form the basis for all artistic creations and are offered humbly from Artistic Director Moss Te Ururangi Patterson's artistic and cultural perspective as an uri and mokopuna of Ngāti Tūwharetoa and
Ngāti Kurauia.
TOHU is a small family company committed to experimentation, discovery and high calibre delivery with our dance productions.
We are story tellers dance makers and new world creators.
Our short term goal is to fully launch our TOHU brand in 2023 with the support of Creative New Zealand and our key partners.
BUSINESS GOALS /PHASES
Phase 1:
1- 3 years
We will begin by delivering a powerful programme of annual activity with the business goal of securing long term resourcing to sustain the companies art work over a 10 – 25 year period.
Phase 2:
1 – 10 years
Leveragig off prior knowledge and relationships build a National and International partnerships for a long term sustainability and growth of our art work and team members.
Phase 3:
1 – 25 year
Fully realised dance company Indigenous model with core company infrastructure and core company staff
INTERNATIOAL GOALS AND STRATEGY
TOHU is new to the International scene as a brand and while our Artistic Director Moss Te Ururangi Patterson has gained considerable experience in the international art space it is important to recognise we are new to the indigenous art space from an international perspective and so we must take small but confident steps to build or profile and leverage off any prior relationships already established through previous artistic experiences.
TOHU is a small family company committed to experimentation, discovery and high calibre delivery with our dance productions.
Our International strategy while early in its infancy is:
To attend at least 2 international performing arts markets per annum to secure interest and increase exposure to our upcoming TOHU productions.
To Identify clearly key International presenters and artists from target markets that are aligned to our work with regards to indigenous dance making and high calibre stage delivery.
To Identify key festivals and directors that will support TOHU to present work in international locations. These include but are not restricted to locations in Asia, Australia, Canada, and the U.S.A.
To participate in local New Zealand festivals and arts market opportunities including the PANNZ, and the CNZ international visitors programme on an annual basis.
To develop indigenous international collaborative opportunities. The specific global regions include but are not restricted to Asia, Australia, Canada.
To build towards greater confidence in accruing annual revenue from international opportunities on an annual basis.
